'House of the Dragon' Teaser: A Look at the History of the Targaryens

The first teaser of the prequel to Game of Thrones has been released. House of the Dragon will take a look at the Targaryen family 200 years before the fall of the Iron Throne. The hype for this series has been interesting to see. Three years ago, this show would have been one of the most anticipated of 2022. After the events of season 8 of Game of Thrones, fans have soured on the idea of a prequel. Another prequel was supposed to take place before this one. The synopsis of that prequel was: "Prequel to 'Game of Thrones' set 5,000 years before the events depicted in the series, centering on an unconstructed era in a land divided into a hundred kingdoms." HBO decided to not air that prequel and go with this one instead.

The Targaryens have a long and rich history in the Game of Thrones world. They have ruled the Iron Throne and conquered many lands. The House of Targaryen is known for its dragons. The Targaryens we have seen in Game of Thrones have been interesting personalities. Daenerys Targaryen went from the Mother of Dragons to The Mad Queen. Jon Snow was the knight in shining army and didn't have any of the qualities Daenerys had.

House of the Dragon will be an interesting show because it will show the history of the Targaryen family leading up top the events of Game of Thrones. The Targaryens are arguably the most interesting family in the show because we didn't get to see a lot of them. We saw the Stark family and the Lannister family, but we didn't see the Targaryen family. House of the Dragon will give the audience a chance to see how the Targaryen family rose to power.

House of the Dragon stars: Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Paddy Constantine, Eve Best, Milly Alock, and Rhys Ifans. The series will release in 2022 on HBO.
