'Baz Luhrmann's Elvis' Trailer Shows Us The Life of Elvis Presley

Elvis Presley is undoubtedly one of the greatest icons in music history. Even in 2022, when you mention the name Elvis, everyone knows who you are talking about. The one thing Elvis Presley hasn't had is a high profile biopic. Finally we will get that in Baz Luhrmann's Elvis. The movie stars Austin Butler as Elvis Presley and Tom Hanks as Colonel Tom Parker. The film will be directed by Baz Luhrmann. Luhrmann is known for films such as The Great Gatsby, Romeo + Juliet, and Moulin Rouge!.

The film will follow Elvis Presley's life. As a young boy growing up in Tulepo, Mississippi to becoming the biggest pop star in the world, Elvis' life will be on full display. Elvis' rise to fame came at a perfect time in American history. With the advent of the television sweeping the nation in the 1950s, Elvis Presley became a sex symbol with his appearances on various talk shows. The film will explore some people's disapproval of Elvis and the way he performed.

Music biopics have had a resurgence in Hollywood over the past few years. It started with Bohemian Rhapsody with the story of Queen and Freddie Mercury. We then had Rocketman which was about the life of Elton John. Last year, we were treated to the story of Aretha Franklin in the film Respect. Bob Dylan will be getting his own biopic in the future with Timothee Chalamet as Bob Dylan. With respect to all of these films, Baz Luhrmann's Elvis is one biopic I am excited to see. Elvis has a lure around him that is still there even 45 years after he died. I am excited to see his story and how he became one of the greatest icons in music history.

Baz Luhrmann's Elvis will release in theaters on June 24, 2022. The film will be distributed and released by Warner Bros Pictures.
