Cillian Murphy Will Star in Christopher Nolan's New Film 'Oppenheimer'

Cillian Murphy has been cast as the star of Christopher Nolan's new film Oppenheimer. Murphy will star as J. Robert Oppenheimer. Oppenheimer is known for being "the father of the atomic bomb." The film will be distributed by Universal Pictures and will release in theaters on July 21, 2023. This week Universal granted Nolan's request of a 100 day theatrical release for the film.


This will not be the first time Cillian Murphy and Christopher Nolan are collaborating. Murphy has appeared in all of Nolan's Batman films as the Scarecrow. Murphy has also appeared in Inception and Dunkirk for Nolan. This will be the first time Murphy will star in a film for a Nolan. The film will test the story of Oppenheimer and how he became "the father of the atomic bomb."


Cillian Murphy is known for his work as Tommy Shelby on the hit series Peaky Blinders. The last season will premiere sometime in 2022. His last film was co-starring with Emily Blunt in A Quiet Place Part II.


Christopher Nolan's latest film was Tenet starring John David Washington, Robert Pattinson, and Elizabeth Debicki. It was his last film with Warner Bros after a dispute led this film to Universal.


Oppenheimer will release in theaters on July 21, 2023.
