A few years ago, after Avengers: Endgame came out, San Diego Comic-Con 2019 announced Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Most of the shows and movies have finally come out and we are at the end of Phase Four. Marvel comes back to Comic-Con 2022 with even bigger announcements and surprises. It was confirmed that She-Hulk and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will conclude Phase Four and trailers were shown. The She-Hulk trailer shows Benedict Wong returning as Wong and Charlie Cox returning as Daredevil. The Black Panther: Wakanda Forever trailer gave us our first look at Dominique Thorn as Riri Williams/Ironheart and Tenoch Huerta as Namor.
Kevin Feige confirmed Phase Five will begin in 2023 with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. The film will show the official first appearance of Kang the Conqueror, played by Jonathon Majors. According to people in attendance at Comic-Con, Kang was featured in the footage that was shown. Another big focus at Comic-Con was Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, where it was confirmed that Chukwudi Iwuji will play High Evolutionary. Secret Invasion also showed the first-look footage and it was confirmed that Don Cheadle will be returning as War Machine for the show.
Phase Five news besides that was mostly announcements and release dates. The second season of Loki was confirmed for the summer of 2023. Blade starring Mahershala Ali has a current release date of November 3, 2023. The 2024 slate was announced. Probably the biggest announcement for a Marvel Disney Plus show was Daredevil: Born Again, once again starring Charlie Cox as Daredevil and Vincent D'Onofrio as the Kingpin. It’s unknown if the other cast members from the Netflix Daredevil will return with them. Unlike the other Disney Plus shows, this series will be eighteen episodes like the Netflix Marvel shows and will come out in spring 2024. The next Captain America film, which will star Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson’s version of Captain America, revealed the official title of the film, which is Captain America: New World Order. Captain America: New World Order got a release date of May 3, 2024. Thunderbolts will conclude Phase Five, coming out on July 26, 2024.
Not only was Phase five announced, but three Phase Six films were announced. The first one was Fantastic Four, which is currently scheduled for November 8, 2024. No director or cast was announced yet. The next two were a big surprise. 2025 will have not one, but two Avengers films coming out. The first one is Avengers: Kang Dynasty, which is currently scheduled for May 2, 2025. The second Avengers film is Avengers: Secret Wars, which is currently scheduled for November 7, 2025. No director has been announced or confirmed for them yet. Phases Four, Five, and Six are also now called the Multiverse Saga.
Some projects have some release dates, but no official titles or confirmation. One of them could likely be Deadpool 3. No word yet on the X-Men making their official MCU appearance. There is also no word yet on a fourth Tom Holland Spider-Man movie. Considering that film will be produced and distributed by Sony Pictures, it’s up to Sony to work with Marvel Studios to decide when the next MCU Spider-Man film comes out. Marvel may be waiting for D23 in September to announce more projects and other announcements, such as the cast of the Fantastic Four.
