'Obi-Wan Kenobi' Part V SPOILER Review

After last week's disappointing episode, Obi-Wan Kenobi comes back strong with a great episode. The episode delivers what fans have been wanting. The episode delivers flashbacks with a young Anakin and Obi-Wan. The flashbacks play an integral part in the episode. The flashbacks are shown through Obi and Anakin's perspective. This fight between Anakin and Obi-Wan shows the true nature of both characters.

The episode starts with the start of a flashback between Anakin and Obi-Wan. It looks like the period of Attack of the Clones based on Anakin's hair. We cut back to Anakin present day as Lord Vader. He summons The Third Sister and she tells him Obi-Wan is arriving on Jabiim. Vader names her as the new Grand Inquisitor.

Obi-Wan and Leia arrive on Jabiim. He sees a friendly face in Haja. He is now being chased by the empire after his interaction with The Third Sister. Obi-Wan asks Roken if he can use the transport to get Leia back to Alderaan. Roken says he needs to get the people who have been there for months out of Jabiim first. Obi-Wan agrees to this plan. First Sister's tracker in Leia's droid prevents them from leaving. Leia goes to fix the problem as she is the only person that can fit through the vent to fix it.

We get another flashback between Anakin and Obi-Wan. It is the same scene as they are continuing their fight. The flashbacks look great especially Hayden Chirstensen. The deaging looks incredible as it looks like this is Anakin from Attack of the Clones. In this flashback, you can see the dual personalities between Anakin and Obi-Wan. Anakin just wants to win and hurt people. Obi-Wan is all about defense and defending others.

Vader, The Third Sister, and stormtroopers arrive on Jabiim. They start firing at the door to try and get it open. As they try to get the door open, Obi-Wan has an idea to talk to The Third Sister. During this conversation, it is revealed The Third Sister was there at Order 66. We also find out that she has a plan to kill Vader. Obi asks her to join him but she declines because she hates Obi for not being there to protect them.

Stormtroopers destroy the door and a battle ensues. Things are working for Obi-Wan and his crew as they are killing many stormtroopers. This changes when Tala and Ned-B get shot by stormtroopers. Obi-Wan devises a plan to surrender as he is the only one Vader wants. Stormtroopers take Obi-Wan and bring him to The Third Sister. Obi pleads with The Third Sister to not be a part of what she was in Order 66. She obliges Obi's request.

We get another flashback with the same fight. Anakin only cares about winning. Obi says "your need for victory Anakin, it blinds you." We see present day Vader looking for Obi-Wan. Obi-Wan fight off stormtroopers and goes to the transport. Leia opens the door for the transport to leave. The transport tries to leave but Vader brings it down with the force. It turns out to be a decoy as the real transport leaves.

Another flashback shows Anakin and Obi-Wan's fight ending. This flashback scene was fantastic and something that should have been shown in the prequels. We cut back to Vader as The Third Sister is sneaking behind him trying to kill him. Vader senses this and stops her. They have a little fight but Vader is too powerful. He stabs her in the chest with his lightsaber leaving her to fall on the ground. Vader says he saw all this coming and he brings back the real Grand Inquisitor. They leave but The Third Sister sees a message from Bail Organa. Obi-Wan senses this and realizes he needs to get back to Tatooine to save Luke. The ending shot is a young Luke sleeping in his bed.

This episode was 10x better than the last episode. It had a more interesting story, different plot, better action, and an ending that leaves you wanting more. The use of the flashbacks was great and it was good to see Hayden Christensen's face again. This was the best episode of the series. Let's see if they can continue that momentum with the finale next week.
