'Ordinary Joe' Episode 2 Review: An Emotional Episode For Joe

Courtesy of NBC

Episode two of Ordinary Joe premiered last night and it was an emotional one for Joe. The 20th anniversary of 9/11 is approaching and as we know from episode one, Joe's father who was a police officer, died that day. All three Joe's are asked to go to the 20th anniversary commemoration. Joe has never gone before because it's too hard for him. He doesn't want to go back to the place where his dad died.

After shooting the man who tried to kill Congressman Bobby Diaz, police officer Joe is promoted to detective. This is a big honor for Joe and he gets a badge number that is very important to him. Uncle Frank surprises Joe with his dad's badge number with help from his new friend Amy. Amy and Joe go on a date and have a good time. At the end of the night they kiss and all seems well. We find out a shocking revelation at the end of the episode that Amy and Congressman Diaz are in a relationship. It will be interesting to see what happens with Amy and police officer Joe after this revelation.

Nurse Joe and Jenny's relationship is starting to get better. Joe is encouraged by everyone in his family to go to the 9/11 commemoration. He goes and with his son Chris reads off some of the names who died on that day. Jenny gets a grant from her law firm to pursue her dream of becoming a lawyer. The only issue is she will have to move to Atlanta to go to school. Jenny has a decision to make and it will be interesting to see what happens.

Music star Joe is on a mission to find his son. Joe gets the help of Uncle Frank to try and track down his son. Joe goes over Jenny's house to try and convince her to give the adopted parents' name. Jenny does not want Joe to find their son because it will bring up old wounds. Joe says he needs to find his son. This might be his only chance of having a child. Amy tells Joe she won't feel incomplete if she doesn't have any kids. This devastates Joe but he says it's okay. Joe hasn't told Amy he has a son but eventually that day will come.

Episode two builds on the pilot with an intriguing and emotional episode. It moves the story forward and showcases each Joe's life in a different and exciting way. I can't wait for what Ordinary Joe has in store for us next Monday.
