The final trailer for The Odyssey has finally been released and people on the internet are freaking out. It has gotten so bad that the dislikes are at 70%. People are complaining about historical inaccuracies and that the film will look boring. Here's why none of that matters to its success at the box office.

Nolan's Reputation

Christopher Nolan is widely regarded as the top director in Hollywood today. His films have been critically acclaimed and have had a huge box office success. His last film Oppenheimer, made a billion dollars at the box office and won best picture at the Academy Awards. People who doubt Nolan are simply foolish. Nolan has never had a film that has been trashed by critics and audiences alike. It is highly unlikely a film of this magnitude will be the one that tanks his reputation as the best director today.

The Cast

The Odyssey has a cast that is regarded as one of the best casts in cinema history. Matt Damon is the lead as Odysseus. Joining Damon is a plethora of stars including: Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, Zendaya, Luptia Nyong'o, Charlize Theron, Jon Bernthal, and many more. With a cast of this many stars and a director who is at the top of his game, it's hard to believe The Odyssey will flop.

Historical Accuracy

The reason why the dislikes are so strong is because some people this film will not be historically accurate. Particularly with some casting choices, fans are divided with some outright refusing to see the film. Even though the online crowd is loud, this will not affect The Odyssey's box office numbers. Think about the film Gladiator. Gladiator is about a man who is seeking revenge for the death fo his wife and son in Rome. In the film, the characters speak perfect English with lead actor Russell Crowe having a slight English accent. Why wasn't that criticized? Its because it doesn't matter. Gladiator is widely regarded as an amazing film and its historical inaccuracies didn't matter. The Odyssey has the potential to shut up all of its haters if it is a great film.

Modern Dialogue

The final complaint coming from viewers is the dialogue in the film. Fans seem to think that the dialogue is too "modern" for the time the film takes place. What we have seen so far in the trailers is less than 2 minutes of dialogue. How do we know the film won't be historically accurate when it comes to dialogue? People need to watch the film before coming to this conclusion based on less than 2 minutes. But that is our world today, coming to a conclusion before seeing the whole product.

The Odyssey will do great numbers at the box office in spite of the online outrage. With a great director and amazing cast, the film looks to be a huge success for Universal and director Christopher Nolan.
