Tom Cruise: The Last Great Movie Star

Tom Cruise is the last great movie star Hollywood has today. The reason for this is that all of his films that come out are muse see in the theaters. Look at his last two films, Top Gun: Maverick and Mission: Impossible- Dead Reckoning. Both of those films were made to be watched on the biggest screen possible. Cruise's films always have the reputation of being made for the biggest screen. As an avid cinema lover, Cruise makes sure fans get their moneys worth when going to the theater. But, Cruise is the last of a dying breed. Cruise is the last great movie star and there are many reasons for that.

Cruise's Films

Like I said earlier, Cruise has a reputation for putting his heart and soul into a project and making it the best film on the big screen. This started from an early age when he dreamed of making movies and becoming a pilot. In his early film career, Cruise was cast in Top Gun. Top Gun propelled the already rising Cruise into heights only few actors have been before and since. When you think of a movie star, you think of someone being the lead in many fantastic films. Cruise's filmography speaks for itself. Cruise has a wide variety of great films involving many different genres. He can be the great action star. He can be the great actor in a drama. He can be the great love interest in a romantic comedy. Because of this, Cruise's career continues to skyrocket and get even bigger even at the age of 62.

Cruise's Lack of Social Media

Nowadays, it seems like every Hollywood actor has an Instagram account. This allows the fan to take a peek into our favorite actors lives and see what their lives are like. Cruise does have an Instagram account but rarely posts on there. This is a huge advantage to Cruise. Back before the days of social media, Hollywood actors were seen as God like figures. We didn't know everything they did on daily basis and always wondered what their lives were like. Because of this, there were many movie stars that existed. Now, we see our favorite actors lives everyday when we scroll on the app. But, we don't see Tom Cruise's life. We don't know what he does on a daily basis. This makes him even more appealing to the average movie goer because the only time we see him is on the screen. This makes Cruise less available to the public eye but makes people want to see him even more. That's why Cruise's films always do well at the box office. Cruise is a rare breed in Hollywood today as his films are must watch in theaters. Other actors like Leonardo DiCaprio, Denzel Washington, and Timothee Chalamet to name a few have a similar effect to Cruise. But Cruise's allure makes him different to the rest. When you see him in public, it feels like a big deal.

Why Movie Stars Are A Dying Breed

The term "movie star" is a dying breed in Hollywood today. There used to be a time in Hollywood where audiences would go to the theater because a certain actor was in the film. Nowadays, it's becoming increasingly rare for viewers to do that. Most viewers will do that for directors now. But, I argue Tom Cruise is one actor movie goers will go the theater to see. His films are beloved by audiences all over the world. This builds a good relationship with the audience. A lot of actors today don't have the track record that Cruise has. This creates a distrust in the audience and a lack of trust equals less people going to the theater.
