A 'Super Mario Bros' Animated Movie Is Coming Out and The Cast Is Amazing

A Super Mario Bros animated film has been announced and the cast is amazing. Chris Pratt will star as Mario and Charlie Day will star as Luigi. News of the film was announced during Thursday's Nintendo Direct Presentation. The rest of the cast includes: Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan Michael Key as Toad, Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong, Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong, Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek, and Sebastian Maniscalco as Spike.


Universal Pictures will have distributing rights for the film. Aaron Hovath and Michael Jelenic are directing the film. This duo is known for Teen Titans Go! and Teen Titans Go! To The Movies. Matthew Fengel known for The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part and Minions: The Rise of Gru will write the script.


Illumination founder Chris Meledandri said in a statement "Mario and Luigi are two of the most beloved heroes in all of popular culture, and we are honored to have the unique opportunity to work so closely with Shigeru Miyamoto and the widely imaginative team at Nintendo to bring these characters to life in an animated movie, unlike any film Illumination has made to date."


Shigeru Miyamoto, creator of Mario said "We are collaborating with Chris and his experienced team to not just create a character licensed film, but a new piece of entertainment which brings Super Mario Bros. to life on the screen, and allows everyone to enjoy whether or not they know about the game."


Last time Mario and Luigi appeared on the big screen was the 1993 live-action film Super Mario Bros. Fans of the franchise have been anticipating a better adaption on the screen and they will get their wish on December 21, 2022.
