Cinemacon 2026 Recap

Cinemacon 2026 is done, and a lot has happened. The studios released exclusive trailers and announcements to all attendees. Here’s what happened:
Sony
Sony’s main focus was its upcoming Spider-Man movies, Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. A clip of Brand New Day, coming out July 31, 2026, was shown, featuring Peter learning that Ned wants to find out who Spider-Man is to thank him for saving him in the past, and suspecting he’s either Flash Thompson or Mr. Harrington. The clip also has Peter reintroduce himself to MJ and Ned with a different name, and learn that MJ has a new boyfriend. Two new posters were also revealed: one with Spider-Man taking on The Hand, and another with Spider-Man and one of his lenses showing MJ’s concerned expression. Beyond the Spider-Verse, coming out in 2027, showed where Across the Spider-Verse left off, with Miles confronted by alternate Miles and alternate Uncle Aaron, and footage involving Miles’s dad, Jefferson Davis, with Aaron back in their younger days and clips with other characters like Gwen Stacy, Spot, and Spider-Man 2099.
Sony also focused on other projects. They showed exclusive footage of Jumanji: Open World. The first trailer of Taika Waititi’s Klara and the Sun, based on the novel and starring Jenna Ortega and Amy Adams. A teaser for The Social Reckoning starring Mikey Madison, Jeremy Allen White, and Jeremy Strong was released. While no footage or pictures were shown, it was announced that the upcoming 2027 movie The Legend of Zelda, directed by Wes Ball, has wrapped up production. Upcoming movies were announced, including Grand Gear, Bloodborne, Helldivers, and Buds.
Warner Bros. Discovery
For Warner Bros. Discovery, the first official trailer of Tom Cruise’s upcoming movie Digger, directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu, in which Cruise will play a business tycoon involved in some sort of disaster. Cruise’s performance is described as similar to that of his performance as Les Grossman in Tropic Thunder. Digger is scheduled for October 2, 2026. A first poster for the 2027 movie The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum was shown and the official cast announcement, with Andy Serkis, Elijah Wood, Ian McKellen, and Lee Pace returning from The Lord of the Rings trilogy and Jamie Dorarn replacing Viggo Mortensen as Aragorn. Also in the cast are Kate Winslet and Leo Woodall. First looks at upcoming DCU movies, Supergirl and Clayface were shown, with Supergirl focusing on Milly Alcock’s Supergirl and Jason Momoa’s Lobo. Evil Dead Burn released a new trailer as well. Dune: Part III, coming out December 18, 2026, had the first seven minutes shown with stars Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, and Jason Momoa, with director Denis Villeneuve there discussing the movie and answering questions.
Universal Studios
Christopher Nolan discussed his upcoming movie, The Odyssey, coming out July 16, 2026, sharing the desire to make an epic movie for IMAX for years and how stars Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, and Tom Holland anchor the movie. Footage involving the Trojan Horse scene was shown. A biopic on Snoop Dog with no official trailer was discussed, starring Jonathon Daviss as Snoop and directed by Craig Brewer. Violent Night 2 and Focker In-Law got official trailers. More footage of Minions & Monsters was shown. Attendees saw an exclusive first trailer of Robert Egger’s upcoming movie Werwulf. Steven Spielberg was there to discuss his upcoming summer movie Disclosure Day, coming out June 12, and his belief that we’re not alone in the universe. He showed a new trailer with additional footage featuring Emily Blunt and Josh O’Connor’s characters and their experiences with aliens as kids.
Paramount
Paramount started off with CEO David Ellison doubling down on his desire to have longer theatrical windows and more movies released per year. Eliison recently won the bidding war for Warner Bros. Discovery. Paramount promoted and showed first looks at some of their upcoming movies, like Scary Movie (2026), which is the first time the Wayans will return to the series since Scary Movie 2. Street Fighter had its first official trailer released. Johnny Depp appeared on stage promoting his upcoming movie Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol, coming out November 13, 2026, where he will be playing Scrooge. Paramount closed out its panel with an exclusive first look at Children of Blood and Bone, coming out January 15, 2027, with director Gina Prince-Bythewood and cast members Thuso Mbedu, Damson Idris, Amandla Stenberg, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Regina King, being there. Top Gun 3, once again starring Tom Cruise, was also announced, but no official release date has been set yet.
Disney
Disney was the last presentation for Cinemacon. The Mandalorian and Grogu had a new trailer release and showed those who attended the movie’s opening. Two exclusive clips of Toy Story 5 were released. According to OffScreenCentral, the first clip involves Bonnie with the Lilypad, and the second involves Woody and his new poncho and bald spot, which has been present in previous trailers. Tom Hanks and Tim Allen were also on stage talking about the upcoming movie. Stars of the upcoming Moana movie, Dwayne Johnson and Catherine Laga’aia, showed more about the upcoming live-action remake.
Ridley Scott’s upcoming movie, The Dog Stars, starring Jacob Elordi and Josh Brolin, had a trailer come out. A new animated movie called Hex, starring Hailee Steinfeld and Rashida Jones, was announced for November 25, 2026, about a teenager named Billie, voiced by Steinfeld, who learns she’s a witch. First looks at upcoming 2027 animated movies like Pixar’s Gatto and Ice Age: Boiling Point were shown. To conclude the Disney panel, Kevin Feige was joined by Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, and the Russos to discuss Avengers: Doomsday and showed an exclusive trailer to those in attendance. It was also revealed that when Avengers: Endgame is re-released in September, new footage will be shown. Feige revealed Avengers: Doomsday will pick up where Endgame left off.
Disney also announced a new way to watch movies called Infinity Vision, which is supposed to offer a unique cinematic experience. This will include the best quality on the largest screens, premium sound, and laser projection. Infinity Vision is supposed to start with Avengers: Endgame and Avengers: Doomsday, and was likely made to compete with Dune: Part III dominating IMAX screens.
